Sligo has in the last five or six years become a hub for open water swimming along with Cork and Dublin. We are blessed with beautiful nataural ammenities for swimming be it in the river or lake and in the sea. Click on the links to find out more about the other swims. 2015 saw the exciting addition of the first Sligo Night Swim.
If people are interested in organising another race in Sligo please contact race organiser Shane O'Doherty who would be more than happy to offer advice and support as well as making the equipment to run the race available too.
WARRIOR OF THE SEA
This swim has in a short number of years become an iconic event and challenge which sees swimmers cross sligo bay (6km) from Rosses Point village to Strandhill.
SLIGO NIGHT SWIM
This is something really different and quite special. Raising funds for the local surf life saving club.
Wonderful tide assisted swim at Rosses Point approximately 1.5km which is a resurrection of an older swim which took place along the same route as far back as the 1940s.
GLENCAR LAKE SWIM
Introduced in 2016 this swim is one of the most scenic you will find and is in the clear refreshing waters of Gelncar. This is a fundraiser for the NW Theray Center.
