This is a non-commercial event with non-cash prizes awarded to all category prizewinners.

SPRINT/MEDIUM
LONG DISTANCE
We will award (non cash prizes) to the top three male and females in the sprint, medium and long distance categories as well as age category prizes (1st place) in age categories of 40+ and 50+ male and female.

STRUCTURE
BRENDAN CURRID CUP
3 RACES - ONE DAY
In changes to the format the race in 2019 will take place on one day. Swimmers choose from 1, 2 or 3km for the main event. Then the relay will take place followed by the eliminator. Once you enter the main event you're also entered into the relay and eliminator.
AGE GROUP PRIZES
1,2, 3km
Age category prizes will be awarded for the 1km, 2km and 3km races only.

SWIM AIDS
The use of any type of swim aids are not allowed except for goggles, swim hat(s), noseplug, ear plugs and wetsuit, Tow floats or similar bouyancy aids are not permitted.
RELAY
Relay teams will be made up of four swimmers and will be mixed gender meaning at least one male or female on each time. Entrants will receive an email on how to enter their teams closer to the event.

THE BRENDAN CURRID MEMORIAL CUP
Brendan sadly passed away in 2011 after a short illness. He was a man of the community being involved in the GAA and handball in particular throughout his life. He also gave up his time generously as an honorary member of the board of management of the Sligo Credit Union. The credit union have honored Brendan's memory by very kindly sponsoring the memorial cup

LADIES NOVICE CUP
FOR NEW SWIMMERS
This will be awarded for the first time in 2017 and is sponsored by local swimmers. It will go to the first lady novice swimmer home at the sprint race.
ELIMINATOR
For anyone wondering, this graphic gives an overview of how the new eliminator will work. We will have a ladies and men's event with one running after the other. Each round will be a 200m circuit. Promises to be great fun
